A dwindling audience finally led WGN to cancel the program in 2001. WGN's Bozo began airing nationally in 1978. Bob Bell retired in 1984 and was replaced by Joey D'Auria. During the 1960s and '70s, the wait to appear in the studio audience stretched to several years.

The only remaining Bozo TV show is being canceled. WGN-TV in Chicago taped the final episode June 12. Dozens of articles have been written in the past few weeks. The show debuted on KTTV, Channel 11 in Los Angeles. Larry Harmon was just an out-of-work actor when I hired him to do some promotional work, says Livingston.
