Jamie Adenuga aka JME has been redefining British music for more than a decade. As Boy Better Know lynchpin, he’s been instrumental in elevating grime from the estates of East London to studios and soundsystems around the world. With genre-defining releases including his 2015 standout LP Integrity, he’s the last word in a scene already bristling with raw action from the likes of his brother Skepta, Ghetts and Stormzy.

Jme is a grime artist.
He’s never signed to a major label, is a vegan and has spent the last year completely absent from social media.
Jme’s debut studio album only came out in 2008, and is a mix of material written for the album and fan favourites.
Coming at a time when most major MCs had abandoned the genre to chase chart success, ‘Blam!’ can be commended for sticking to what Jme did best – pure grime.
Five years is a long time between albums, but with ‘Integrity>’, Jme proved he was still at the top of his game.
Jme will release new album 'Grime MC' on November 29th.

JME souvent streams ses escapades de jeu et de beat-making et pour une courte durée, j'ai régulièrement visionné pour attraper les moments chauds avec Ethan, Josh et compagnie.
JME feels oddly more grassroots, even if they’re very similar in that regard.
JME génère des conversations d'un intérêt et d'une complexité considérables, parfois critiquant les anciens élèves de l'étude astrologique ou partageant des pensées sur le climat social.
JME peut perpétuer un son grime brut et trouble qui ne peut être associé qu'à quelques grands britanniques et pionniers du son rap au Royaume-Uni.
Perhaps that distance the MC has maintained from the mainstream allows him to perpetuate that raw and murky grime sound that can only be associated with a select few British Greats, and pioneers of the rap sound in the United Kingdom.
JME eliminates any doubt that he wasn’t the best grime MC in the game with this release, the most lyrical he has ever been - proving that he does not compromise his sound nor succumb to FOMO on the fads.
While the grimey and murky nature of this album won’t be for everyone, mostly because not anyone’s mum is open-minded enough to bump to tunes of this variety, it is for lovers of music.

Personally, ‘DEM MAN ARE DEAD’ is a track that should have been left off the album but that does say a lot about a release when of the 18 tracks available, I take issue with only 1.

Jme likes to boast that he can make a beat with anything. Grime MCs might rap, but heads will be quick to tell you that grime is separate from hip-hop. The genre traces its roots to the UK garage scene, where parties are focused on the floor, not the stage. And the sounds of Grime MC, particularly the beats Jme made himself, are in the same vein as those early tracks. With rowdy beats and BPMs that hover above 140, Grime MC is made for the dancefloor and steeped in the slang and Caribbean patois that permeates London’s underground. Grime has always been a subculture, rooted in meatspace.

Jme has sustained a vibrant career through multiple eras of grime.
He founded the grime label Boy Better Know (BBK) in 2004 and produced on the label’s records while developing his rap voice.
It was only in the 2010s, however, that he achieved recognition outside the grime scene.
Full of crisp, uncompromising production, his 2015 album Integrity> served as a blueprint for what grime could look like in a new decade.
As drill became the dominant export of the UK’s rap scene, grime continued to flourish and remain fresh thanks to Jme’s inventive spirit.

JME is one of the pioneers of the grime musical genre alongside some other icons of the scene via the Boy Better Know crew which he formed.
Focusing on being a grime purist he's never strayed from the genre and continues to produce his own music with his latest album dropping in 2019.
He's the brother of Skepta and Julie Adenuga.
